Good morning beloved, happy Saturday,
“You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem! Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”
(2 Chronicles 20:17).
Jehoshaphat was one of the good kings of Judah. He honored and obeyed God and directed the people to seek the Lord and turn from idols.
Even with this being the case, he and all Judah were attacked by three counties collaborating against the people of God: Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir. Together they had a vastly superior fighting force, but Judah had a great advantage: the Lord was on their side.
Jehoshaphat prayed fervently in 2 Chronicles 20:12, saying, “O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor know what to do, but our eyes are on You.”
So often in life we come up against the world, the flesh, and the devil. We face insurmountable obstacles, impossible dilemmas, and incredible odds against us. What is the solution? We must pray to the Lord who alone can help us.
In the case of Jehoshaphat and Judah, they just had to take their hands off the situation and “stand still and see the salvation of the Lord…” There was no need to fight, be fearful or dismayed. God would fight for them, and He did. He caused the people of Ammon and Moab to turn against the people of Mount Seir to kill and destroy them, and then these two, Ammon and Moab, fought among themselves and destroyed each other.
What a victory God brought about for His people that day. Only God could do this. Just think, enemies fighting each other! Today we face mighty foes, alluring temptations, and impossible situations. God tells to pray and stand still, just as He did when He parted the Red Sea and killed Pharaoh and his entire army.
Have a blessed day trusting the Lord. Stay safe and healthy.
Jesus makes the difference in what we face, and brings about the victory by His power and grace.
