Good morning beloved, happy Friday,
“Set your mind on the things above, not on things on the earth.”
(Colossians 3:2).
There are many things that matters to us in this world. It may be career, success. money, possessions, and or health. Then we think of spouse, children, and grandchildren, they matter more. These all do matter, but they don’t matter the most. They may last for this life but not for eternity.
What matters most to God should matters most to us: the Word of God and the souls of men. It is no coincidence that these two things alone last forever.
It think it is helpful to make a “Matters List.” Just write down all the things down that matter to you. Then ask what would happen if I no longer had them? Paul directs us to “Set your mind of things above, not on things of earth.”
Earthly things can be lost, stolen, broken, or destroyed; heavenly things last, they unbreakable, unshaken, and unlimited. Hebrews 12:28 says, “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.”
Jesus spoke of two types of treasure that we can set our hearts on: treasures on earth or treasures in heaven. We should seek the latter not the former. He said, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21).
Let us remember what really matters most is our Savior and our salvation. Have a blessed day. Stay safe and healthy.
The things that you can’t live without are the things which are irreplaceable to your heart.
