The Rock That Is Higher Than I

-July 31, 2025-

Good morning beloved, happy Thursday,

“From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”

(Psalm 61:2).

David experienced all the emotions that a person goes through; He found the Lord to be His support, strength, and stronghold. He called on the Lord day and night. He falsely accused, mistreated, and pursued by Saul and later by his own son Absalom.

All that being said, human speaking, he was overwhelmed. The overwhelm is defined as,”bury or drown beneath a huge mass; to cover over completely; to overpower in thought or feeling.” It reminds us being buried in an avalanche or knocked over by heavy waves.

Fortunately, He always turned to the Lord. There is no one better to turn to. The Lord Jesus is the Rock of our salvation. We can and should cling to Him, He will never fail us or forsake us.

There is a wonderful hymn written jointly by Vernon J. Charlesworth and Ira D. Sankey, entitled, “A Shelter in the Time of Storm.” The first verse says, “The Lord’s our rock, in Him we hide, a shelter in the time of storm; Secure whatever ill betide, a shelter in the time of storm.” We can face many storms of many types, to various degrees.

Have a blessed day looking to the Rock that is higher. Stay safe and healthy.

When rest on the Rock, your life will never crack.

Under His Wings

-July 30, 2025-

Good morning beloved, happy Wednesday,

“How precious is Your loving kindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.”

(Psalm 36:7).

There is no better place to abide than under the Lord’s wings. It is akin to dwelling in the center of His will, abiding in Him. There is such love, mercy, care, safety, and security in Christ.

There is a picture of a baby bird sheltering under its mother’s wings. Our mind’s eyes can envision it. The little bird has no fear, no worry, no anxiety. The mother bird has everything under control.

Oh, that we would be free from such worry and fear! His wings are stronger, safer, and more secure than anything else. As believers, we are not immune to troubles, difficulties, trials, afflictions, and sorrow. The difference is that the Lord is with us to see us through.

There is a rich hymn written by William O. Cushing, with the music by Ira D. Sankey, entitled, “Under His Wings.” The second verse says, “Under His wings, what a refuge in sorrow! How the heart yearningly turns to His rest! Often when earth has no balm for my healing, there I find comfort and there I am blessed.” The chorus reads, “Under His wings, under His wings, who from His love can sever? Under His wings my soul shall abide, safely abide forever.”

Only the Lord can comfort, encourage, and strengthen us in all we go through. Let us abide under His wings. Have a blessed day. Stay safe and healthy.

When I am down, He lifts me up; When I am weak. He gives me strength; When I am sick, He heals me; and when I am troubled, He comforts me—under His wings.

One Life To Live For Christ

-July 29, 2025-

Good morning beloved, happy Tuesday,

“For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

(Philippians 1:21).

All of us have but one life to live for Christ. It was true of Paul and all the apostles. There are no pause buttons or rewind functions in this life. We are all given just twenty four hours a day, one hundred sixty eight hours per week.

No one can buy more time. Only the Lord knows how many years we will live here on earth. One thing we know is that we will spend eternity with Christ in heaven. How we live is what really counts.

Our God is more concerned with what we do than what we planned to do; more with how we live than how we die; more with our availability than our ability. A truly committed Christian lives for Christ and serves Him daily.

The fewer regrets we have the better. Paul wrote at the end of his life, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7). The great man of God, C.T. Studd once said, “If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice is too great for me to make for Him.”’

There is a great hymn entitled, “Only One Life.” The chorus says, “Only one life soon it will pass, only what’s done for Christ will last. Only one chance to do His will, so give to Jesus all your days, it’s the only life that pays. When you recall you have but one life.”

May the Lord help us to give our all, our whole heart living fully for Christ. Have a blessed day. Stay safe and healthy.

Surrendering all to Christ never seems enough to do for Christ.

God Is Our King

-July 28, 2025-

Good morning beloved, happy Monday,

“For God is my King from of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.”

(Psalm 74:12).

Our God is the King of Glory, the King of the Jews, the King of kings, the King over all the earth. He rules and reigns from heaven. The question is, is He my King?

In the days of Samuel, who was a prophet, priest, and judge, the people of Israel wanted, even demanded a king like all the other nations. God told Samuel that they didn’t rejected him, they rejected Him as their King. They were in effect wanting their own way. Anytime we live by our own authority, it is never going to be good.

We know from the Scriptures, Jesus is our King in everything. He will lead us, guide us, and provide for us. We can put ourselves under His rule and authority. In every situation, every trial, every decision.

The hymn writer, Jennie Evelyn Hussey wrote, “King of my life I crown Thee now—Thine shall the glory be; Lest I forget Thy thorn-crowned brow, lead me to Calvary.” They placed on His head a crown of thorns; we place on His head the crown of righteousness, peace, and authority.

Jesus is my King. I submit to His authority, and I live according to His will. Have a blessed day living for our King. Stay safe and healthy.

You can only serve and submit to one King.

The Redemption Of The Soul Is Costly

-July 27, 2025-

Good morning beloved, happy Lord’s Day,

“None of them can by any means redeem his brother or give to God a ransom for him—For the redemption of their souls is costly, and it shall cease forever—.”

I found a list of the top 30 things in the world. There precious gems, a couple of exotic cars, a couple of people, even a couple of things like the Hubble telescope, and number one on the list, called Antimatter is valued at cool $62.5 trillion per gram. Wow!

Suffice it to say none of us common folk could afford any of them. But there is something far more costly: the redemption of a soul. Its price was the blood of Christ. Jesus redeemed each of and those in the whole world. He gave His body to bear our sin and His precious blood to flow to cleanse us from all sin.

Jesus paid the ultimate price for us. He bought us off the slave market of sin, from Satan’s control. No one has enough money nor is perfect and sinless. Have a blessed day worshipping the Lord, hearing the eternal Word of God, and serving the greatest Master. Stay safe and healthy.

Christ valued us so much that He paid our sin debt; now we belong to Him.
