Taming The Untamable đź‘…

-November 22, 2025-

Good morning beloved, happy Saturday,

“But no man can control the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.”

(James 3:8).

James describes the tongue in a very bad light in James chapter three. He says, “the tongue boasts of great things (v.5)”; “the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity (v. 6)”; the tongue defiles the whole body (v. 6); “the tongue is unruly (v. 8)”; and the tongue is full of deadly poison (v.8).”

The tongue reminds me of the internet, it can be used of good purposes or bad purposes. In most cases the tongue gets us into trouble so often. There is a common expression that says, “a slip of the tongue.” It means we didn’t mean to say it.

The tongue is slippery alright. Words come from our mouths and cause damage and destruction. James said it makes no sense to bless God and turn around and curse people. Out of our mouths proceed both blessing and cursing; it should never be that way.

So how do we tame the tongue? It isn’t easy? And in fact, only the Lord can help us. Many verses in the Bible speak of the tongue and our speech. Paul wrote in Philippians 4:29, “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.”

If the tongue couldn’t be controlled, we wouldn’t have so many commands for how to control our speech. Colossians 4:5 says, “Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.”

Have a blessed day speaking as a Christian should speak. Stay safe and healthy.

Let us, let God, control our tongues and not our sinful flesh.

Dressed In His Righteousness

-November 21, 2025-

Good morning beloved, happy Friday,

“I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”

(Isaiah 61:10).

We came to Christ in the filthy rags of sin, unrighteousness, and shame. We had no hope, no way to clothe ourselves in the presence of a holy God. We were dead in our trespasses and sins, separated from God.

But now we have been saved by grace through faith, justified, and clothed in the righteousness of Christ. Our verse says, “He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness…”

It was wonderful how God clothed Adam and Eve in animal skins to cover their nakedness. It was a prophesy pointing far into the future when through the sacrifice of Christ and His shed blood, we are now clothed in the garments of salvation and covered in the white robes of righteousness.

It is a wonderful picture of a bridegroom and his bride who are dressed with ornaments and jewels respectively. Christ is our Bridegroom and we are His bride. In the hymn, “The Solid Rock,” Edward Mote penned in the last stanza, “When He shall come with trumpet sound, O may I then in Him be found; Dressed in His righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne.”

Dear saint, rejoice that you have been clothed in His righteousness. He turned you from a sinner to a saint. Have a blessed day. Stay safe and healthy.

God sees us through Christ and dressed in His righteousness alone.

Do Good And Share

-November 20, 2025-

Good morning beloved, happy Thursday,

“But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.”

(Hebrews 13:6).

There many things in life we should remember, and for us as believers, this is one we should never forget. Jesus taught it and the apostles reinforced it.

Doing good is always needed on a daily basis. Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). Our lives should be characterized by doing good in Jesus’ name and for His sake.

Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:10, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Sharing is giving some of what we have to others who need it. Kids and adults alike must learn to share, it doesn’t come naturally. Doing good and sharing is a sacrifice of love and greatly pleases the Lord. May the Lord help us to do good and share.

Doing good is what we should; and sharing is caring.

Praise To God Is The Fruit Of Our Lips

-November 19, 2025-

Good morning beloved, happy Wednesday,

“Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.”

We all want to be more fruitful to God in what we do, but we also must bear fruit in what we say or sing. We must continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, not only on Sunday at church, but everyday for everything.

The word continually is defined as, “repeated frequently in the same way; regularly; without interruption, constantly. “ The opposite of continually is sporadically or occasionally. What way will you choose to praise God?

God deserves all the praise we can give, and we can never give Him enough. It is called a sacrifice of praise because it takes thought and effort given willingly and freely.

The result of our sacrifices of praise is giving, or it may be rendered confessing our thanks to God. It is a blessing in our lives and to those who hear us praise the Lord.

Is our praise to the Lord continuous or is it merely sporadic or occasional? There is a huge difference! Have a blessed day. Stay safe and healthy praising the Lord.

As believer-priests we offer sacrifices of praise to God all our days.

Keep On Keeping On

-November 18, 2025-

Good morning beloved, happy Tuesday,

“For you need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.”

(Hebrews 10:36).

Jewish Christians were suffering severe persecution by the Jews, and they were tempted to get relief by going back to Judaism. We as believers are ourselves tempted to take matters into our hands to get relief from our pain, problems, and hardship in our own. We need to press on and trust God for answers in His timing.

I used to run track, cross country, and long distance road races; I learned so many lessons that I still follow after all these years. One of the greatest lessons I learned was endurance. Endurance gives us more strength to keep going to the end. One race in particular I took a wrong turn. I got back to the right course and came back to win the race. In another race I slipped in the mud and fell. I got up and back into the race.

Life, like running isn’t easy. We may get off track and fall but we must get up and keep going forward to the finish line. Paul nearing the finish line of life wrote to Timothy, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).

The writer of Hebrews also wrote in Hebrews 12:1, “…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”

A dear brother I served the Lord with in my younger days was named Walter. He was a great Bible teacher and friend. One thing he always said really stuck with me was, “keep on keeping on.”

Let us endure and build our endurance through prayer, the Word, and fellowship with other believers. We also need to encourage one another to persevere and endure in whatever we are going through.

Have a blessed day running with endurance the race set before us. Stay safe and healthy.

As in running, endurance training is needed to make it to the finish line. Keep on keeping on.
