Good morning beloved, happy Lord’s Day,
“But He knows the way that I take; When He has tried me I shall come forth as gold.”
(Job 23:10).
God never stops working in our lives; His goal is that we grow in our faith and be like Christ. To do this He must put us through the fire of affliction.
His refining process is painful but profitable. There are two aspects to the refining process: burning off the dross and purifying the gold.
• Burn off the dross – The dross is that which negatively affects the silver and the gold. The word dross is defined as, “the scum or unwanted material that forms on the surface of molten metal; waste or foreign matter; impurity.
I know that I have dross in my life. It may be a poor motive, a bad attitude, or an unthankful spirit. So often we can take for granted what God has given to us. God gave us and He could take it away. It is hard to face ourselves and let God change us.
• Purify the gold – Once the dross is removed, the gold is refined. The gold shines and is more valuable. Thus gold and silver are considered precious metals.
Peter speaks of our faith as precious, tested by fire. 1 Peter 1:7 says, “That the genuineness of your faith, being more precious that gold that perishes, though it be tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
Have you been in God’s furnace of refinement. I am in it right now. Have a blessed day letting God have way. Stay safe and healthy.
God only keeps in the fire as long as needed to refine us.
