His Name Will Called Wonderful

Good morning beloved, happy Monday, Merry Christmas,

“…And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

(Isaiah 9:6b).

Today’s verse is nothing short of well, wonderful. It contains five names of the Lord Jesus Christ: Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

His name is wonderful, His character is wonderful, His ways are wonderful. How can we describe Him? What superlatives can we employ?

The word wonderful is defined as, “inspiring delight, pleasure, or admiration; extremely good; marvelous.” Are not all these things true of our Savior?

The Angel of the Lord spoke to Manoah and his wife announcing the birth of Samson, telling them what his manner of life would be. Manoah wanted to know what the Angel’s name was. He answered, “How is it that you ask My name seeing it is wonderful?”

The hymn writer Audrey Mieir wrote, “His Name Is Wonderful.”She wrote, His name is wonderful, His name is wonderful, His name is wonderful, Jesus my Lord. He’s the great Shepherd, the Rock of all ages, Almighty God is He. Bow down before Him, love and adore Him. His name is wonderful, Jesus my Lord.”
