All Things That Pertain To Life And Godliness

-Good morning beloved, happy Lord’s Day,

“As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.”

(2 Peter 1:3).

The little word all makes all the difference in the world. God doesn’t just give us things that pertain to life and godliness, He gives us all things that pertain to life and godliness. The moment we are saved we receive it all.

We receive an inheritance reserved for us in heaven. We become heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, and all things belong to us because we belong to Him. Paul wrote in Ephesians 1:3, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”

In today’s text, Peter describes what the all means, it means all things that pertain to life and godliness. He gives it to us so wonderfully freely, and abundantly. We are so blessed and privileged to be in Christ.

The word pertain is defined as, “to be appropriate, related, or applicable; to belong as a duty or right.” What we have in Christ is always by His grace for our good and for His glory. He gives all the tools necessary to complete our mission.

It all started for us at the cross. He has given us everything because of His on the cross. Romans 8:32 says, “He who spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things.”
