Good morning beloved, happy Tuesday,
“For you need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.”
(Hebrews 10:36).
Jewish Christians were suffering severe persecution by the Jews, and they were tempted to get relief by going back to Judaism. We as believers are ourselves tempted to take matters into our hands to get relief from our pain, problems, and hardship in our own. We need to press on and trust God for answers in His timing.
I used to run track, cross country, and long distance road races; I learned so many lessons that I still follow after all these years. One of the greatest lessons I learned was endurance. Endurance gives us more strength to keep going to the end. One race in particular I took a wrong turn. I got back to the right course and came back to win the race. In another race I slipped in the mud and fell. I got up and back into the race.
Life, like running isn’t easy. We may get off track and fall but we must get up and keep going forward to the finish line. Paul nearing the finish line of life wrote to Timothy, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).
The writer of Hebrews also wrote in Hebrews 12:1, “…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”
A dear brother I served the Lord with in my younger days was named Walter. He was a great Bible teacher and friend. One thing he always said really stuck with me was, “keep on keeping on.”
Let us endure and build our endurance through prayer, the Word, and fellowship with other believers. We also need to encourage one another to persevere and endure in whatever we are going through.
Have a blessed day running with endurance the race set before us. Stay safe and healthy.
As in running, endurance training is needed to make it to the finish line. Keep on keeping on.
Dean
