Good morning beloved, happy Wednesday,
“(Christ) having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.”
(Hebrews 1:4).
Our Lord Jesus Christ is superior to anyone or anything in the vast universe. He is the Creator and the Savior; He is the Lamb of God and the Lion of the tribe of Judah; He is King of kings and Lord of lords; He is exalted to sit at the right hand of God and given a name above all names.
The word superior is defined as, “situated higher up; of higher rank, quality or importance.” Jesus that and so much more. He the Mediator of a better covenant. He is our Lord and Savior. It is good to remember who He is and thus whom we serve.
The writer of Hebrews says the He is better than the angels, better than Moses, better than the law, better than the OT priesthood. Someone once wrote, “Christ is better than the angels, for they worship Him. He is better than Moses, for He created him. He is better than the Aaronic priesthood for His sacrifice was for all time. He is better than the law, for He mediates a better covenant.”
The primary audience of this book were Jewish believers who left Judaism and were being tempted to go back due the persecution of their countrymen. Today, we ourselves need to stand on Christ, in Christ, and for Christ our Solid Rock. Let us endure and stay the course until the end.
