Blessed To Be A Blessing

-October 30, 2025-

Good morning beloved, happy Thursday,

“And it shall come to pass that just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you shall be a blessing. Do not fear, let your hands be strong.”

(Zechariah 8:13).

From the days of Abraham, Israel was blessed by God. God promised him in Genesis 12:2, “I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.” So often Israel fell short of being a blessing. They were blessed but they failed to be a blessing.

God doesn’t bless us for us alone, He expects us to be a blessing to those around us. My prayer is, Lord, help me to be a blessing to everyone, every day, in every way. We have the choice to be a blessing. We can either be a curse or burden or we can a blessing and a help.

At the end of our communion service, our pastor prays that we will be a blessing to each other as go into our fellowship time. We should pray this for ourselves and for others. It is important what we say and how we say it, what we do and how we do it. Our lives will either point people to Christ or away from Him.

The hymn writer Ira B. Wilson wrote, “Give as ‘‘twas given to you in your need, love as the Master loved you; Be to the helpless a helper indeed, unto your mission be true. The chorus says, “Make me a blessing, make me a blessing—Out of my life may Jesus shine; Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray. Make me a blessing to someone today.“

Let us who are blessed so abundantly be an abundant blessing to others. Have a blessed day. Stay safe and healthy.

Blessed to be a blessing is more than a good saying, it is a way of life.
