Good morning beloved, happy Wednesday,
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
(John 14:27).
We all like to receive gifts. Three of the best are birthday gifts, anniversary gifts, and Christmas gifts. Gifts are free, all we have to receive them. God’s gifts are superior to any earthly gifts for they are forever.
James 1:17 tells us, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” All God’s gifts are good and perfect.
In today’s verse the Jesus promises the gift of peace in the midst of a fearful, troubled world. An inheritance is what benefactors upon their death leave for their beneficiaries. The last will and testament of Jesus gives us something far better than money or materials things. Money can be spent and material things can wear out, be lost or stolen.
The gift of peace comes from the Prince of Peace. It is precious and perfect. Jesus knew that His disciples would need this peace to handle His crucifixion and later their own persecution and other difficulties. The promise of peace is for us, all of us. His peace gives us rest and calm, contentment and joy.
Therefore there is no need to be troubled or fearful for the Lord is with us and gives us His sweet peace. I don’t know what you are going through, but I know that He knows and cares.
Have a blessed day of peace. Stay and healthy.
The gift of the peace is not to put in safe deposit box, or be relegated to a shelf or closet—It is meant to be used everyday.
