Good morning beloved, happy Lord’s Day,
“Your words were found, and I ate them, and your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; for I am called by Your name, O Lord of hosts.”
(Jeremiah 15:16).
We all need food to survive physically, mentally, and emotionally. Normally, we eat three meals a day to give our bodies nutrients. As important or even more vital is the intake of the Word of God for our souls. He wants us to have a healthy spiritual appetite for the Scriptures.
When Jesus answered the devil’s temptation that He turn the stones to bread, He said in Matthew 4:4, “…Man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
How is your spiritual appetite for God’s Word? Do you eat it everyday? In the OT, God sent the Israelites manna from heaven daily except on the Sabbath when He sent them a double portion on Friday to cover Friday and Saturday.
Job said in Job 23:12, “I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.” That is so encouraging to me. I take delight in God’s Word for it brings me joy and rejoicing in my heart.
Let us the feed on the Word of God daily for proper spiritual nourishment. Have a blessed Lord’s Day. Stay safe and healthy.
God says at the end of Psalm 81:10, “Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.” The wider our mouths, the more we can take in.
