Abide In Jesus And His Word

-September 28, 2025-

Good morning beloved, happy Lord’s Day,

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”

(John 15:7).

Contextually, today’s verse is in the Upper Room with Jesus and His disciples. Our Savior spoke to them to comfort and encourage them before going to the Garden of Gethsemane and His subsequent arrest and crucifixion.

In John 15, Jesus uses the word abide nine times in verses 1-9. The word abide is defined as, “to remain stable or fixed in a state.” When we abide in Christ and His Word, we are dwelling with Him. He is not just visiting, He is living with us.

Jesus said in John 15:5, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit m; for without Me who can do nothing.” To be effective and victorious, we must abide in Christ.

The closer we are to Jesus, the further we’ll be from this world. We are in the world, but we are not of the world. We are different, we stand out. Christ is our hope.

The first verse of the great hymn, “Abide with Me,” says, “Abide with me—fast falls the even tide; The darkness deepens—Lord with me abide; When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, O abide with me.”

I don’t know what trial you are going through today. My youngest cousin just passed away. She is a believer and was ready to go home to heaven. Please pray me and all our family. May God pour out His mercy and grace like the balm of Gilead.

Have a blessed day. Keep abiding in Jesus. Stay safe and healthy.

When we abide with Him, He will abide with us.

Dean
