Good morning beloved, happy Wednesday,
“Give to the Lord the glory due to His name; Bring an offering, and come into His courts.”
(Psalm 96:8).-
Psalm 95 is another of the psalms that comes from an unknown author. In this portion of Psalm 96:7-8, the psalmist uses the phrase, “Give” three times. He writes, “Give glory to God, Give glory to the Lord glory and strength, and give to the Lord the glory due to His name.
This word translated “give” can be rendered as “ascribe.” The word ascribe is defined as, “to refer to a supposed cause, source, or author; to say or think that (something) is caused by, comes from, or is associated with a particular person or thing.”
The psalmist ascribed all the glory to the Lord who is the source of every blessing. There is one water company, Chrystal Geyser, always says, “always bottled at the source.”
There is a wonderful hymn that we sing after the Lord’s Supper, entitled, “Praise God, From Whom All Blessings Flow.” It is also commonly called, “The Doxology.” Thomas Ken wrote, “Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.”
Since God is so great and He is the source of everything, let us ascribe all the glory to our Creator, our Savior, and our Lord. James wrote in James 1:17, “Every good gift and perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”
Let us give glory to God for who He is and what He has done for us. He alone is worthy! Have a blessed day honoring God and pointing people to Him. Have a blessed day. Stay safe and healthy.
In my life’s story, I give God all the glory.
