Birthdays Come Once A Year

-June 27, 2025-

Good morning beloved, happy Friday,

“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. A time to be born…”

(Ecclesiastes 3:1-2a).

We all have at least one thing in common: we have a birthday. We had no control over who are parents were, where we were born, on what particular day of the year.

It is good to celebrate our special day with family and friends. Usually we receive cards, gifts, and parties. It is our special day and we should enjoy it. In all my years of working, I can’t ever recall taking birthday off work.

I am not one to worry about age. I still feel young at 68. I am thankful for all the years God has given me. Psalm 90:12 says, “So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” One cannot minimize wisdom, experience, and maturity.

God knew when each of us would be born and worked in our lives from our birth and even before. David wrote in Psalm 139:16, “Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they are all written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.”

All believers in Jesus Christ have two birthdays, a physical one and more importantly a spiritual one. I was have been born on June 27 but I was born again on December 13. At our church we celebrate the birthdays of the people each month.

Jesus said to Nicodemus in John 3:3, “…Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” He also told him, “Do not marvel that I said to you, you must be born again” (John 3:7).

I am thankful for my birth into this world, but I am even more thankful that I have been born again, born more of God, born from above, born into the family of God.

Yes, with each passing year, we get a little older, and hopefully a bit wiser. Have a blessed day. Whatever your two birthdays fall, let us rejoice and give thanks. Stay safe and healthy.

Another year added, another year closer to heaven.
