Good morning beloved, happy Friday,
“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
(Psalm 27:13).
There are times in our lives that we won’t believe unless or until we see; but that is not faith, it is sight. Thomas was like that: he wouldn’t believe that Jesus rose from the dead until he saw the nail prints in Jesus’ hands and side.
David, the writer of this psalm, almost lost heart, he was in the verge. Fortunately, “he believed that he would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Faith must precede sight. God wants us to step out in faith believing what we can’t see or understand.
Someone once said, “Faith is taking the first step when you don’t see the whole staircase.” What a thought to ponder when we go out yonder! Jesus told Martha at the tomb of her brother Lazarus who had been dead for four days, “…did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God.” The Lord wants to believe and then see, not see and then believe.
Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:7, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” Fanny Crosby the prolific hymn writer, was blind but had great faith in the Lord and His Word. Sometimes our natural eyes prevent us seeing with our spiritual eyes.
Have a blessed day believing and then seeing what the Lord can do. Stay safe and healthy.
Let my eyes believe and then see the marvelous works of God.
