The Lord Has Need Of It

-March 7, 2025-

Good morning beloved, happy Friday,

“And He said to them, ‘Go into the village opposite you; and as soon as you have entered it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has sat. Loose it and bring it. And if anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, the Lord has need of it,’ and immediately he will send it here.”

Jesus came in fulfillment the Old Testament Scriptures and all righteousness. Zechariah the prophet wrote, “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt the foal of a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9).

Jesus needed a donkey to ride into Jerusalem on, so He sent two of His disciples to get one. He gave them very specific instructions on how to find and bring back a donkey that no one ever sat on. Donkeys are known to be stubborn, yet this animal was submissive to her Creator.

If anyone questioned them for taking the donkey, they were to say, “The Lord has need of it.” think about that for a moment: Christ has need of things and people in His kingdom. Even more remarkable, He needs you and me!

God needed a shipbuilder, so He raised up Noah to build the ark; He needed a temple so He led Solomon and later Zerubbabel; and He raised up Peter to build His church. God chooses us, calls us, equips us, and sends us out in the world to represent Him.

You may not think of yourself as that important, but God considers that you are. He is counting on all us to do our part in His service. Have a blessed day. Stay safe and healthy.

If Christ can use a lowly donkey, He can use even me.
