The Lamp And Light Of The Word

-March 5, 2025-

Good morning beloved, happy Wednesday,

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

(Psalm 119:105).

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible. There are 176 verses, and nearly every verse in it speaks of the Word of God.

The unknown psalmist mentions several important words to describe God’s truth: testimonies. law, word(s), statutes, precepts, commandments, judgments, and ordinances. We all need the Word God’s Word everyday. It is our spiritual food.

The Word of God gives light to our path one step at a time. In Bible days the people didn’t have electricity as we have today. If they needed to walk at night they had to carry a lamp that was fueled by olive oil. It gave just enough light to see just ahead.

We need God’s truth to live by in our dark and sinful world. Paul tells us the uses of God’s Word, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

God has answers to our questions, and solutions to our problems; He guides us through every circumstances. He uses His Word to guide us personally and specifically. Two different people can read the same verse or passage and get something different out of it for their lives. Even when one person reads it, he or she will get something different on different occasions.

God’s lamp gives us illumination, inspiration, and instruction at just the right time and in the right way. Psalm 119:130 says, “The entrance of Your word gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.” Let us walk with the Lord in the light of His Word.

Have blessed day on God’s well-lit path, we can never go wrong. Stay safe and healthy.

God’s Word tells us where to walk and how to walk to be the light of His presence daily.
