He Is Risen

-March 31, 2024-

Good morning beloved, happy Lord’s Day, happy Resurrection Day,

“He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’”

(Luke 24:6-7).

Today is Easter Sunday, Resurrection Day. It is a day to remember and rejoice; to celebrate and circulate the greatest news: Jesus rose from the dead! Because He lives, we live also.

The disciples went from the lowest of the low to the highest of the high. Their sorrow was turned into joy. The hymn writer Alfred H. Ackley wrote, “Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King! The Hope of all who seek Him, the Help of all who find, none other is so loving, so good and kind. He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way. He lives, He lives, salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.”

I received a beautiful Easter card that noted three wonderful things about the resurrection: He promised it, they witnessed it, and we live it. Yesterday we considered some thoughts on the sealed, secured tomb. The angel rolled the stone away. Jesus had already risen.

1. Jesus promised it— to rise again – He fulfilled it just as He said. In fact, He told the disciples three times that He would be delivered into the hands of men, be crucified, and on the third day rise again.

2. The disciples witnessed it with their own eyes – Mary Magdalene was the first to see our risen Lord, then He appeared to the eleven, first without Thomas then with Him; He appeared to Cleopas and an unnamed person on the road to Emmaus. Later He appeared to over 500 brethren. Finally, He appeared to Saul of Tarsus on the road to Damascus.

3. We live it —a resurrected life – The most wonderful thing is we walk in newness of life. We are in-dwelt and filled with the Holy Spirit. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead empowers us to be victorious.

Have a blessed Resurrection Day in praise, worship, and thanksgiving. Stay safe and healthy.

Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed! Hallelujah! Amen.
