The Best Laid Plans Of Man

Good morning beloved, happy Thursday,

“A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”

We are intelligent, educated, experienced, and knowledgeable people, yet we know nothing compared to God. His plan is better than ours and His will is superior to ours.

Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are ways My ways,’ says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

The Lord often changes our plans. He doesn’t do it to thwart us, but to direct us. When I was working, they asked us our five year plan: where we wanted to be in five years. I am not wired like that. I live one day at a time and serve the Lord. Only He holds the future.

Hudson Taylor had definite convictions about how God’s work should be done. We can make our best plans and try to carry them out in our own strength. Or we can make careful plans and ask them to bless them. “Yet another way of working is to begin with God; to ask His plans, and to offer ourselves to Him to carry out His purposes.”

May the Lord help to live and act according to God’s plan from beginning to end. He will direct our steps. Have a blessed day. Stay safe and healthy.
