It’s Worth Repeating – Part II

-August 20, 2023-

Good morning, happy Lord’s Day,

“Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men.”

(Psalm 107:8, 15, 21, 31).

Four times the psalmist repeats the same encouraging words. It is as if he is expressing a desire that everyone in the world would join him in thanking the Lord for His goodness and wonderful works to the children of men.

We need to thank the Lord for His goodness. David expressed the importance of God’s goodness in Psalm 23:6, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” God’s goodness and mercy lubricate us through all the friction of this world.

It is also essential to remember and thank the Lord for His wonderful works. He has done so many things for us. As soon as we begin thanking the Lord, we run out of time, not of blessings. The hymn writer wrote, “Thank You, Lord, for saving my soul, thank You, Lord, for making me whole; Thank You, Lord, for giving to me, Thy great salvation so rich and free.”

May we be blessed by every repetition in the Bible. Psalm 136 contains the most repetitions, each of the 26 verses say, “for His mercy endures forever.” Have a blessed day. Stay safe and healthy.

Thanking the Lord for His goodness and wonderful works,

Dean
