Good morning, happy Friday,
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
(Hebrews 13:8).
Today’s verse is one of the most encouraging in the Scriptures. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. From eternity past through eternity future, He is always the same. Every prophesy, promise, and precept in the Bible points to Him. He is our Creator, Lord, King, Redeemer, and Savior. He Alpha and Omega, the Ancient of Days, the Almighty, the Son of David and so much more.
In the OT, Jesus appeared as the Angel of the Lord on numerous occasions. He came to Joshua as the the Commander of the army of the Lord. Joshua 5:13 says, “And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, ‘Are you for us or for our adversaries?’ So He said, ‘No, but as the Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.’ Joshua recognized Him as God appearing to him and fell on his face before Him and worshipped. The Commander of the army of the Lord told him,”Take your sandal off your foot, for the place you are standing is holy.” (See Joshua 5:13-15).
Our Savior was born into this world and died on the cross and rose again. He appeared to the apostles, to over 500 men, and later to the Apostle Paul; He then appeared to John, giving him the Revelation. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He never leaves or forsakes us. We can face whatever comes today and tomorrow because He lives. He is our Great High Priest who intercedes for us and strengthens us. He is faithful in all things at all times. We can fully rely on Him for everything.
There is a wonderful hymn, entitled, “Yesterday, Today, Forever,” that was written by Jack Wyrtzen. It says, “Yesterday He died for me, yesterday He died for me, yesterday, He died for me, died for me — This is history. Today He lives for me, today, today, today He lives for me, today He lives for me, lives for me — This is victory. Tomorrow He comes for me, He comes, tomorrow He comes for me, He comes, tomorrow He comes for me, comes for me, comes for me — This is mystery. O friend, do you know Him? know Him? know Him? O friend do you know Him? do you know Him? do you known Him? Jesus Christ the Lord, Jesus Christ the Lord, Jesus Christ the Lord.”
What a great question, “Do you know Him?” Through repentance, confession, faith, and acceptance of Him into our hearts we are born again. He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. He will never change. Let us trust Him today and tomorrow and for all our lives. We know that He is with us; and He will be until the end of the age. We will be with Him in heaven forever.
Have a blessed day with Christ Jesus our Lord. Stay safe and healthy.
With our past secured, and our future procured, there is nothing in our present that can’t be endured,
Dean
