God’s Everlasting Arms

-November 3, 2022-

Good morning, happy Thursday,

“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are are the everlasting arms…”

(Deuteronomy 33:27a-b).

There is nothing better than to walk on solid ground not having to worry about stumbling or falling. We all get mesmerized watching a high trapeze artist carefully walking on a thin wire high, high above the ground. One mistake could him or her their life. Fortunately there is a net underneath them just in case. The same is true of the eaglet learning to fly. The mother eagle flies below and can catch the little one in midair.

For the believer in Christ we have God’s everlasting arms underneath us. He loves us so much and cares for us. In trials the Lord is our stability and strength. He is our refuge. Whether we are driving, walking, working, even sleeping, the Lord who never slumbers or sleeps is watching over us. It gives us such encouragement and comfort. He will never leave us nor forsake us. His arms are strong enough to hold us up and carry us through.

One of my favorite hymns, among many, is “Leaning On The Everlasting Arms” written by Elisha A. Hoffman. He wrote, “What a fellowship, what a joy divine, leaning on the everlasting arms; What a blessedness, what a peace is mine, leaning on the everlasting arms. O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way, leaning on the everlasting arms; O how bright the path grows from day to day, leaning on the everlasting arms. What have I to dread, what have I to fear, leaning on the everlasting arms? I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, leaning on the everlasting arms.” The chorus says, “Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms; Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.”

May the Lord strengthen us by His everlasting arms that are always underneath us. The Lord dispels our fears, anxieties, and doubts. Have a blessed day. Stay safe and healthy.

Under His everlasting arms,

Dean
