Good morning, happy Thursday,
“Then Moses called Bezalel and Aholiab, and every gifted artisan in whose heart the Lord had put wisdom, everyone whose heart was stirred, to come and do the work.”
(Exodus 36:2).
God provided all things for the people of Israel in the wilderness, including all the materials to build the tabernacle and all its furnishings. As we see in our verse today, He chose and called skillful, gifted, and talents artisans to make all that was needed. Two men in particular, Bezalel and Aholiab, did the work and also taught others to help as well.
God not only called these men but He equipped them also. Exodus 35:31-33, says of these two servants of the Lord, “And He has filled them with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and understanding, in knowledge and all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold and silver and bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of artistic workmanship.” God does not call the equipped, but equips the called. This is a great lesson for us today.
God gives spiritual gifts to every believer in Christ to do serve Him in the church. None of us in and of ourselves feel adequate, we must all rely on the Holy Spirit to see success in the work of the Lord. We don’t choose or gifts or ministries. 1 Corinthians 12:18 says, “But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.” His goal for us is to be willing, faithful servants, using the gifts, skills, and talents that He has given to us. He will work in us and through us to bring about His purposes. This way all the glory goes to Him. One day, at the Judgment Seat of Christ, He will reward us for our faithful service.
God uses humble, empty vessels that He fills and equips. The disciples came from very lowly backgrounds: they were fishermen, tax collectors, and other ordinary men to do extraordinary things for Him. These uneducated and untrained men in the eyes of the world, turned the world upside down. God can use you and me in mighty ways if we are available, willing, and faithful. May God stir our hearts as He did both Bezalel and Aholiab. Let us give all we can, using all that He has given us, to serve our wonderful Savior! What is your spiritual gift(s) and ministries?
Have a blessed day serving the Lord, giving Him all the glory. Stay safe and healthy.
