The Genuineness Of Our Faith Proven By Fire

-November 13, 2021

Good morning, happy Saturday,

“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, be found found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

(1 Peter 1:6-7).

God considers us His children precious, just as He does our faith. Faith is at its finest, highest, and best when tried and tested by various trials. God knows how to develop and grow our faith through pain, suffering, and hardships. God knows that without testing our faith will not grow nor depend on Him fully. James 1:2-4 says, “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”

If God values our faith calling it precious, we should consider such also. God does not send us trials because He doesn’t love us; on the contrary He sends them because He loves and wants the best for us. Our genuine, childlike faith is more precious than gold that perishes. Among the various precious metals, gold is still the standard because it can pass through the fire and be more refined. It beauty is wonderful and its value is high. As I have mentioned before, dross is an impurity in the gold that only fire can burn away. Dross is defined as, “the scum or unwanted material that forms on the surface of molten metal.”

We all have character flaws, bad habits, selfish ways, and evil thoughts that God wants to purge from our lives. The Holy Spirit within us burns like fire not to harm us but to refine us. He wants to purify from within and without. We should never fear the flame, but rather fear the shame!

The anonymous hymn writer wrote, “When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie, My grace all sufficient, shall be thy supply: the flame shall not hurt thee, I only design thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine.” God is working in our lives through the fiery trials. Let us rejoice in the trials we go through. God has a purpose for each and they will show bring forth our genuine, precious faith.

Have blessed day trusting and rejoicing in our trials. Stay safe and healthy.

In His grace,

Dean
