Good morning, happy Friday,
-The Work Of God Is To Believe In Jesus-
“Jesus answered and said to them, ‘This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.’”
(John 6:29).
Today’s verse is Jesus’ answer to the question that the Jews asked Him in the the preceding verse, “Then they said to Him, ‘What shall we do, that we may work the works of God? (John 6:28). No one can work the works of God unless he or she believes in Jesus. Anything anyone who is unsaved does is of no value whatsoever, it counts for nothing in God’s sight. Without salvation, nothing else matters.
Jesus told them, “…This is the work of God, that you believe in Him (Jesus) whom He (the Father) sent.” John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Once we have believed in Jesus and received Him as our Lord and Savior, we are saved, forgiven, and have eternal life. Then whatever do is a blessing as a good work in His kingdom.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Paul also wrote in Ephesians 2:10, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
All good works we do follow the first good work of believing in Jesus. We who are redeemed want to show our thanks to Jesus by serving Him. Whether it is something big or small, let us serve Him with our all in all.
Have you confessed your sins to God and repented of them? Have you believed in Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Then rejoice and live for Him and serve Him? If you haven’t yet received Him, today is the day to be saved.
