The Verse of the Day

-August 19, 2020-

Good morning, happy Wednesday,

-Blessed Assurance: Have The Son, Have Eternal Life-

“And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”

(1 John 5:11-13).

Salvation is both a free gift and a choice one must make to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Eternal life is bound to Christ not to anything we do to attain it. Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day for us. Once one is saved, he or she saved forever. No one can lose their salvation. The Scriptures are very clear on this.

God has given us the testimony, the assurance to everyone who believes. Verse 12 is crystal clear: “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” God desires that each person be saved and be with Him in heaven. 2 Peter 3:9 tells us, “God is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willingly that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

In John 3:16-18 Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but He who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

You either have the Son of God and have eternal life or you don’t. There are only two choices, with two eternal destinies. The decision we make now on earth will affect where we will spend eternity: either in heaven or in hell. Have you received Christ as your personal Lord and Savior? If you haven’t, please do so today.

God not only wants us to be saved but also to have the assurance of our salvation. John said in verse 13, “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.” This indeed is a blessed assurance! We are in the hand of the Father and of the Son, and sealed with the Holy Spirit.

May the Lord help us to thank Him for our salvation and rejoice in the assurance of it. Fanny Crosby wrote, “Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! O what foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.”

Help a blessed day as a child of God living in the sunshine of His grace. Stay safe and healthy.
